Guiding and Expedition Experience
- Mountain guide in East Africa; ascents of Mt. Kenya, Kilimanjaro and the five highest peaks in the Ruwenzori Mountains in Central Africa.
- First ascent of the North Ridge of Alpamayo, 20,000 Peru the last unclimbed high mountain in the Andes (British expedition, 1966). BBC film of the ascent won the Trento Film Festival Award in 1967
- Led two expeditions down the 600 mile Omo River in Ethiopia. Second expedition was sponsored by National Geographic, 1985
- Led team that made first crossing of Alaska Brooks Range in winter - 450 miles on skis pulling sleds. Expedition was supported by National Geographic, 1976
- Led team that made first crossing of the Sea of Cortez, in kayaks Mexico, 1968.
- Rafted headwaters of the Amazon 1994
- Led British Army expedition across Vatnajokul Glacier in Iceland. Ascent of Mt. Hvannadalshnkur.
- Ascent of alpine peaks in Europe and North America, including: Matterhorn; Mt. Blanc; North Face of Dru; Bonatti route on Grand Capucin; West and North Face of Cima da Laverado, North Face of Half dome, in Yosemite, Black Dagger on Diamond face of Longs Peak.
- Guided groups to summit of Mt. McKinley in Alaska.
- Guided in the Andes of Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina.
- Sailed around Cape Horn, South America, in 40 Catamaran 2004.
- Skied across Finland from Russia to Sweden, 2005
